The labour unions at the Federal Polytechnic Auchi, Edo State have suspended the indefinite strike action which they embarked on about a month ago.
The unions which include the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP) and Non-Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (NASUP) revealed this in a communiqué jointly signed by their General Secretaries — Omonekhai Shaka (SSANIP), Abdul-ganiyu Braimah (ASUP) and Solomon Aliabakhalumhe (NASU).
According to reports, the decision was sequel to deliberations and resolutions reached at the inaugural meeting between the new Dr Sanusi Jimah led management, and the executive members of the unions.
This development comes as a relief to the Auchi community members who had claimed that business and commercial activities had been paralysed in the area since the commencement of the strike.
