The ex-wife of former Nigerian head of state, Olusegun Obasanjo, Mrs. Taiwo Obasanjo has has filed a lawsuit against him seeking an order to stop the wedding of her son, Olujonwo Obasanjo to Tope Adebutu.
The suit which was filed at a Lagos High court in Ikeja has been fixed for hearing on April 10 before Justice Lateefa Okunnu.
Mrs Obasanjo is seeking for postponement of the wedding which is slated for May 11th and 12th till after June 30, and the respondents to the suit are Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and father of the bride, Sir Kessington Adebutu, aka Baba Ijebu.
Mrs. Obasanjo who claims that wedding invitations were handed out without her knowledge or consent also seeks a declaration that as the mother of the groom, she has parental rights to take part in the decisions, deliberations and activities leading to the forthcoming ceremony.
She equally claimed to have received prophesies and spiritual warnings that Olujonwo should not engage in any elaborate celebration before his birthday(June 1st), which is two weeks after the wedding in oder to avoid any impending calamity.
According to her, all appeals which she has made to the mother of the bride,Mrs. Rosemary Dacosta, her husband Adebutu, the bride herself and co fell on deaf ears.
Obasanjo and Adebutu are yet to file a reply.
