“PwC takes full responsibility for the series of mistakes and breaches of established protocols during last night’s Oscars.”

Less than 24 hours after what has been described as one of the most epic fails in the history of the Oscars,  accounting firm PricewaterhouseCooper (PwC) has now issued a second apology.
It is worthy of recall that on the day of the oscars, the movie La La Land had been mistakenly announced as the winner of  the best picture category, when in fact the award was meant for Moonlight .
Going beyond the first statement of apology that was issued three hours after the Oscar broadcast ended, PwC sent out what it called a “revised statement” in which it squarely shoulders the blame for the incident, and cites its partner, Brian Cullinan for the mistake. The statement read in part; “PwC takes full responsibility for the series of mistakes and breaches of established protocols during last night’s Oscars.” “PwC partner Brian Cullinan mistakenly handed the back-up envelope for Actress in a Leading Role instead of the envelope for Best Picture to presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway. Once the error occurred, protocols for correcting it were not followed through quickly enough by Mr. Cullinan or his partner.”
While offering an apology of its own, The Academy stated that it will conduct an investigation on the way the tell-tale envelopes are handled at the Oscar ceremony.
