OAU Gets $2m Grant For Cancer Research

The health sciences college of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife has been awarded the sum of $2m by the Cancer Research Institute (CRI) in the United States to aid its efforts in cancer research.

This announcement was made by the head of CRI medical research team Dr. Peter Kingham, during a courtesy visit to the varsity's acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof Tony Elujoba.

According to Dr. Kingham, the award was aimed at appreciating the management of OAU for its support to cancer researchers at the university’s College of Health Sciences that have been collaborating with other researchers from CRI to find a cure for cancer.

Professor Elujoba thanked the CRI team for their kind gesture and assured them that the donation would be judiciously used. He further challenged researchers to find a cure for cancer, which has hitherto defied cure.
