According to reports, the research department of the Ibrahim Badamasi Babaginda (IBB) University , Niger State has discovered a large deposit of crude oil in Bida Basin.
This was disclosed Thursday by the university's Head of Research and Development, Prof. Nuhu Obaje, at the exhibition of raw materials and local products, held at Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
According to the professor, the institution has made its findings known to both the Federal Government as well as the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
He added that the management of the university is ready to offer any form of assistance to the government in order to help further exploration of crude in the area.
Prof. Obaje equally noted that the University Research department has also introduced a technology for quick crude oil discovery and drilling.
