The arising case of plagiarism among lecturers.



 Disturbed by the arising case of plagiarism among lecturers, the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics(ASUP) Nasarawa chapter, on wednesday held a one-day conference for its members on the outcome of plagiarism.

The conference also talked on a modern research methods that can help the lecturers  rely on  an independent methodologies.

The chairman of  the union Mr. Paul Osini, in his speech said that the need of the conference was to inform the lecturers on the modern trends in academic findings.


Osini further said that the lecturers were taken through various  methods  of which  they can use the Information Communication Technology(ICT) to expropriate a source inoder to carry out their findings

Academic work has been modernised in line with globalisation thereby creating a means through which lecturers update their knowledge in order to remain relevant, he said.

Dr. Silas Gyar, Rector of the polytechnic,declaring the conference open commended the union for the initiative which is in line of growing the school management toward building the capacity of staff for optimum performance.

He also said  the union should ensure  that the intention of the conference should  be  in a journal inoder to serve as a blueprint for researchers.

 Speaking at the occasion, Mallam Dalhatu Jibrin, a profound person, who presented a paper on the outcome of plagiarism, reminded the lecturers that those found guilty of such act should be terminatted from their jobs.

Some of the participants commended the union for the initiative and called for its support.

Mr Benjamin Ango of the Department of Public Administration said that The teaching job is dynamic and lecturers must level up in emerging technological trends in the academic field

Mr. Abimiku Otso of the same department, similarly said that the management of the polytechnic should  pay more attention in building the capacity of its academic staff

 He also said that an improved capacity will translate into improved services and ensure quality graduates.
