Nigerian man busted in India

A Nigerian man, Kenena Solomon has been arrested in India alongside Indian native, Kaushal Prasad Gupta for duping unsuspecting young girls through matrimonial sites.

According to police, the men  committed at least 14 frauds in the past 10 days, a  fact they uncovered after checking one of the accused man’s bank account and finding transactions of more than Rs 10 lakh just within this period.

The alleged tactics used by the accused is  by befriending girls on matrimonial sites, posing as non-resident Indians (NRI).

A statement by the Indian commissioner of police, Sanjay Agarwal revealed thus; "This particular gang was busted when we launched an investigation into an FIR lodged on May 3 by a Adarsh Nagar-based girl in Jaipur..."

According to Mr. Agarwal,  the said girl had been contacted by one Kelvin who claimed he worked with a company in London as an advisor. He promised to marry the girl and said that he would settle in India after the wedding. Kelvin told the girl he needed to transfer some money and other valuables to India before moving.

Mr. Solomon, 41, had reportedly come to India on a tourist visa, but didn’t leave the country even after his visa expired, and had been living in the country illegally for the past eight months.
